What is a Swish Party?

So many of us would love a wardrobe full of fashionable items, but hardly any of us can afford it. We sometimes buy things that just don't fit or look right on us. These beauties often hide out in our wardrobes for ages, not receiving any love.  Swishing is a fun way to get those unused lovelies out and into the arms of someone new where they can finally be shown off! I have held several swish parties for my friends and I cannot count the number of times where I have seen swished items on them. They are so proud to show off their swish finds and I am thrilled that these pretty clothes are now being loved again and seeing the light of day! 

What is a swish party?

Before the party, attendees have a rummage through their wardrobes to look for their swish items. After gathering a few items, they then head off to swish. At the party, the items are organised on rails and tables while everyone has a chance to browse and mingle.  At my parties, I like to have drinks, nibbles and music. Every so often, a bell chimes and everyone is able to go and grab an item that they have been eyeing. Of course, party manners are important here, so please no pushing or hair pulling please! ;) In between swishing times, you can try on clothes in a special "fitting room." 

What do you mean by "swish items?" 

Any item of clothing, shoes, or accessories that are of good quality, condition, clean, and fashionable (please no Granny knitted jumpers with your name on it!). They do not have to be expensive, just good quality. Swish items are those that you wish would fit you, or look right on you, but just don't. Only swish what you would like to receive. If we all brought rubbish, none of us would go home with anything we like. The more quality swish items that are brought, the better selection we will have to chose from. Get it?

What if I am of a particular size? Will there be things for me?

Don't let your size keep you from coming! We want all shapes and sizes present. Not all of us are model size, so the more selection, the better!

Do I have to take home the same number of items I bring? 

If you bring 2 items, that does not mean that you can only bring 2 items home. We'd love for you to bring as many as you can, but if that's all you have, then that's all you have. I'd suggest finding 2 swish items at the party and then maybe skip a few rounds so that it evens things up a bit. There are no strict rules, just play fair, that's all I ask. 

Why is there an entry fee?

I host my swish parties to raise funds for local charities or groups. The entry fee goes towards the hiring of the venue and the associated costs of hosting the party. All of the extras go towards the groups or charity. The fee will get you in the doors plus a drink ticket.  There will usually be a raffle or some other sort of fundraising at the party as well. Any extra donations are always welcome and appreciated.  

What if I have other items that aren't "swishable?"

Please bag them up and bring them! I will give you an extra drink ticket and the bags will be donated to Rag Bags which will raise money towards my daughter's pre-school.
